Aston Villa have entered the race to sign Newcastle United target Ross McCormack from Fulham.

McCormack, who joined Fulham in 2014 for a Championship record fee of £11m, has a £12m release clause in his contract.

Fellow Championship newcomers Aston Villa have also now been linked with a move for the in-demand striker who scored 21 goals in the second tier last season.

Rafa Benitez recently announced the club was close to agreeing deals for four new signings.

Meanwhile, Tottenham Hotspur have a long-standing interest in Ayoze Perez but the Newcastle United forward insists he is going nowhere.

Perez has confirmed his commitment to Newcastle and says he is aiming to help the club bounce back to the Premier League at the first time of asking.

Asked about his future by Spanish publication El Dia, Perez said: "I have a contract (with Newcastle) until 2021.

"I was part of the relegation and I am preparing to return to my best.

"It was not a good year collectively or individually, but I scored some goals.

"You have to take the positives and think about what’s coming.

"It’s going to be tough but in your career, a player must always jump over obstacles."
