THE player dubbed the ‘next Wayne Rooney’ was on the scoresheet for Newcastle United’s second string again last night.
Adam Armstrong bagged his fourth goal in four games for the Under-21s in a 1-1 draw with Everton at St James’s Park last night.
The side contained seven players with first-team experience, including Paul Dummett and Sammy Ameobi, who were on the bench at Villa Park on Saturday.
However, it was the youngest player on the pitch, 16-year-old Armstrong, who put the home side went ahead on the stroke of half-time with a great finish after approach play by Haris Vuckic and Adam Campbell.
It was the latest strike from the talented youngster, who idolises Rooney – who ironically began his career at Everton.
Armstrong who called into United’s squad for their Carling Cup game at Morecambe last month, and is highly-rated by the Academy coaches.
Newcastle were made to pay for their missed chances last night though as Hallam Hope equalised for Everton in the 70th minute.
