Rafa Benitez put a question mark above his future at Newcastle United are guiding the club back into the Premier League.

Benitez's side beat Preston North End 4-1 at St James's Park tonight to secure promotion.

United's manager was asked after the Championship game whether he would be at the club next season.

Benitez said: “You never know – that's football.

"I am really pleased to be here, and really happy and proud for everything we have achieved. Hopefully, we can put in the foundations for something that will be a guarantee for the future."

Asked what he needed in the summer, Benitez added: "What we need is to enjoy today, and after we will see where we are.

“Now is the time to enjoy what we have done.

"I am sure if we do the right things, we have to prepare everything to be strong enough for the Premier League.

"We have to wait and enjoy it, play another two games and see where we are."

Ayoze Perez netted twice against Preston, while Matt Ritchie and Christian Atsu also found the net.

The result has left United four points behind league leaders Brighton and Hove Albion with two games left to play.
