Rafa Benitez has told of his "surprise" that a Huddersfield-born referee will officiate Newcastle United's next game.
Huddersfield Town are battling Rafa Benitez's side for the second automatic promotion spot in the Championship.
Second-placed Newcastle lead David Wagner's side by seven points ahead of Monday night's home game against Preston North End.
Huddersfield-born Andrew Madley will officiate the fixture at St James's Park.
Asked about the appointment, United manager Benitez said: "I was really surprised with that situation.
"We have to trust the referees. We have not had a lot of luck with them.
"I always trust the referees, and hopefully everything will be fine and we are not talking about the referees at the end of the game."
Benitez has been angered by a series of refereeing decisions this season.
