Rafa Benitez is keeping a close eye on Adam Armstrong at Barnsley.
The Newcastle United forward is on a half-season loan at tonight's Championship opponents.
But the 19-year-old is not eligible to play against his parent club at Oakwell.
Armstrong won the Championship's Goal of the Month award for a stunning debut strike against Preston North End last month.
And United manager Benitez – who will have to decide on whether to let Armstrong stay at Oakwell for the second half of the campaign – is getting regular reports on his progress.
“I have been watching him," said Benitez, who fielded Armstrong in the first two games of the season.
"I'm very pleased. He got goal of the month, it was a great goal. Hopefully, he can continue to score goals."
Armstrong scored 20 goals for League One club Coventry City last month.
