ST Mirren manager Danny Lennon has not given up hope of keeping on-loan Newcastle United duo Paul Dummett and Conor Newton.

The pair have been massive hits at the Buddies since joining the club, helping the Paisley side win the Scottish League Cup at Hampden against Hearts.

Defender Dummett and midfielder Newton – who scored yesterday in the final game of the season against Kilmarnock – have been offered new deals by the Magpies.

The duo are out of contract this summer, and haven’t decided what they want to do next season, with St Mirren not giving up hope they will return to the club.

“The two of them are good players and the boy Dummett just loves defending,” said Lennon.

“He’s been a pleasure to have. Our club now has a reputation now of bringing in players and improving them.

“Newcastle have got to welcome the boys back but we have a very good relationship with them. If they are going to go back out anywhere then I dare say we are in with a good shout.”
