FORMER Newcastle United star Tino Asprilla has been linked with a return to the club – coaching kids.
Reports in the ex-striker’s home country Colombia claim Asprilla has been in talks with the Magpies about the role.
Asprilla enjoyed a two-spell on Tyneside after joining from Parma in 1996, and has revealed he is set take up his new role in March.
The 43-year-old also confirmed he hopes to help the club pick up the best talent from his native Colombia.
He told Radio Antena 2: “Some teams in England are going after the Spaniards, so I want Newcastle to fix their eyes on Colombian talent.”
Asprilla was linked with a role at the club last year after he said he wanted to bring some kids over from his coaching school in Colombia, but nothing came of it.
He is due back on Tyneside in March as part of a talk-in with Keith Gillespie, who he so famously linked up with to score a hat-trick against Barcelona in 1997.
Asprilla made 50 starts in all competitions for Newcastle, scoring 18 goals.
