Jarrow Roofing can be the Northern League's new Entertainers '“ starting against Morpeth

The Roofers recorded a 3-2 victory over Ashington at the Boldon CA Sports Ground last Saturday – a result that ended an alarming run of form.

Things do not get any easier for the South Tynesiders this weekend, however, as they travel to FA Vase winners Morpeth Town.

Despite the challenge that awaits, McLoughlin insists that his rejuvenated side have the ability to go to Northumberland and claim the victory that will avenge the 5-4 defeat they suffered in the reverse fixture back at the beginning of October.

“That win was absolutely massive for us on Saturday,” he said. “We really needed it, and it was fantastic for morale.

“The whole team was given a massive lift at the full-time whistle, and I hope that they can now kick on from this and string a run of results together.

“Morpeth are a top-three side, but we have nothing to fear. We have shown what we can do against some of the best sides in this division, and we will be going there with our sights set on claiming the three points.

“It’s important that we build on our recent progress.”

A raft of new signings have come through the door at the CA recently – most notably Paul Gardiner and Lee Kerr from Seaham Red Star – and the Roofing boss believes that his side is now a lot more balanced than it was in the earlier parts of the season.

“The players that we have brought in over the weeks have made us a better side,” he said. “Of course, it was going to take a while for them all to gel, but I now think they are all starting to get used to each other.

“We now have quality all over the pitch, in every position, and I think we will be a lot more entertaining to watch now.”

One situation that could cause some concern for the Roofing manager is the availability of some of his key players.

Anth Myers and goalkeeper Andy Hunter are doubts for the game, with both suffering from sickness, while Ross Toward and Darryll Donnelly are suspended. However, Kerry Hedley and captain Alex White are set to make welcome returns for the 3pm kick-off.
