Rampant Reyrolle hit nine

HEBBURN Reyrolle kept their title bid on track with a comprehensive 9-0 win over Murton in the Northern Alliance Premier on Saturday.

Chris McDonald was the goalscoring hero for Mark Collingwood’s side, notching five times.

The victory ensured Reyrolle stayed fourth, five points behind leaders Whitley Bay with three games in hand.

Elsewhere in the Alliance, HARTON & WESTOE remain third after drawing 2-2 at New Fordley, with Steven Graham and Owen Peterson on target.

In the Wearside League, JARROW were disappointed to only come away from Annfield Plain with a 2-2 draw.

Jarrow went in 1-0 up at half-time thanks to a great finish by Paul Trosh from 20 yards, but after the break it was a case of missed chances for the visitors.

Annfield Plain then equalised with a long-range shot, but Roofing went back in front with the impressive Ryan Burton scoring in the bottom corner.

But with five minutes to go another long-range effort from the home side gave them a point.

Jarrow assistant manager Davie Bell said: “We played very well, and our passing was excellent, creating numerous chances, but we just could not finish the game off.

“Full credit to Annfield Plain who kept going.

BOLDON CA, however, bounced back to form with victory over bottom side Willington, Michael Meek grabbing the only goal of the game.
