South Shields FC confirm application for promotion from Northern League
The Mariners are bidding to gain promotion to the Evo-Stik League Division One North at the end of the current season.
They must finish in the top three of Northern League Division One to do so.

Hide AdShields currently sit second, five points behind leaders North Shields with a game in hand.
Behind them, third-placed Morpeth Town and fourth-placed Shildon are six points and 10 points behind respectively.
However, Morpeth have two games in hand, and Shildon have four.
A statement from South Shields FC said: "The club can confirm that an application for promotion to step four of the National League System at the end of the 2016-17 campaign has been submitted to the FA.
"The Mariners must now finish as the highest-placed applicant in the top three of Northern League Division One to achieve this aim."
