Raiders U10s beat brave Sporting Jarrow
AFTER a long break, the Chase Holmes South Tyneside Youth League got back into the swing of things.
In Division One, sponsored by AWM Alarms, Sporting Jarrow, looking for their first win of the season, put up a vastly improved performance before going down 3-1 to good South Shields Raiders side.
Cool scored for Sporting, with star man Eckert netting for Raiders along with a fine double from Booth to give his side the spoils.
One of the games of the day for entertainment and excitement was Chuter Ede Hurricanes' superb comeback against South Shields Jaguars.
The Jaguars looked strong in the first half and went ahead with goals from Parkin and Carrick (2) to put their side in the driving seat.
However, not to be outdone, the Hurricanes fought back when Farnsworth, and Scott scored to put them back in the game.
Scott then grabbed his second goal to make it all square.
But it was the prolific Carrick who had the final say, completing his hat-trick for a 4-3 victory to Jaguars.
Honours were even between South Shields Jags Cubs and Whiteleas Celtic, with neither forward line being able to break the deadlock.
The result puts a dent in the Cubs' title challenge.
Hebburn Town Demon's move up into fifth spot after their well-deserved and hard-fought 2-0 win over a brave Jarrow Fellgate Juniors.
Hetherington and Davidson were the goal-scoring heroes in a very good game.
Leam Rangers are only a point behind the leaders as they recorded a great 3-0 win over Consett Saracens, who put up a good show.
Richardson and Craig (2) were on the mark for the Leam to cap a good team performance.
Leaders Hebburn Town Devils scored an important 4-1 win over fellow challengers Jarrow Boy's Viking's in a game of high standards.
Taylor scored for the Vikings with a great strike, but goals from Melia, Brown (2) and an own goal gave Devils the spoils.

In the Premier Division, sponsored by Drummonds Industrial Cleaners, Castle Park showed their title intentions right from the off in their 3-1 win over Monkton Hurricanes.
Pyle netted for the Hurricanes, but fine strikes from Parry, Tones and Wilkinson gave the Sunderland side a deserved victory, which puts them top of the league.
Wrekenton Nou Camp are a point behind with a game in hand, as they kept the pressure on the leaders with a very comfortable 7-2 win over Jarrow Terriers.
Wildgoose and Huthart took their chances well for the Boldon side, but goals from Grant (2), Burns, Forster, and a superb hat-trick from Campbell, secured the points for the Gateshead side.
A mention must go to Kennedy for his great display between the posts for the Terriers.
South Shields Youth are right up there in the mix after their 12-2 win over South Tyneside Spirit.
Smith and Tennet scored fine consolation goals for the Shields side, as strikes from Crake (2), Castello (2), McDougall and seven goals from the impressive Williams secured the points for Youth.
Monkton Mavericks put up a good show against the enigmatic St Cuthbert's, before going down 4-2 to the Durham side.
Lisle and Main scored fine goals for Monkton, with goals from Wilson, Seccombe and Latham (2) securing the spoils for the Saints.
The last game of the day was the very entertaining 0-0 stalemate between South Shields Tigers and Hebburn Wanderers.
Both sides' defences were in top form, with Hewitt, in particular, outstanding for the Tigers.
