Sunderland manager David Moyes has made two changes for the game against Liverpool, with Steven Pienaar and John O'Shea returning to the side.

Pienaar replaces Paddy McNair who is facing a long spell on the sidelines with a knee injury, while O'Shea replaces the suspended Papy Djilobodji.

Djilobodji was sent off in the 3-0 win over Hull City last weekend and serves a one-game ban. Pienaar is back from his own one-match suspension and returns to the side.

Jermain Defoe will lead the Sunderland attack with support from Victor Anichebe, who scored twice in the win over the Tigers.

Seb Larsson makes his return to the Sunderland matchday squad, with the Swedish midfielder among the subs at Anfield after returning from a knee injury.

Sunderland are second bottom ahead of the game, three points from safety against a title-chasing Liverpool side, second in the Premier League.

Liverpool are unchanged, with Daniel Sturridge missing the match with a tight calf.
