SHEFFIELD Wednesday boss Dave Jones has denied he is interested in signing Sunderland outcast Phil Bardsley.

The full-back has been told he can leave the Black Cats this summer after falling out with boss Paolo Di Canio following the picture of him at a casino towards the end of last season.

Sheff Wed have been linked with the Scotland international, but Jones says he is well covered in the position.

The Wednesday boss responded to a question from the Gazette’s sister title, the Sheffield Star, about Bardsley by shaking his head and saying: “No. I don’t need a full back; I’ve got Lewy (Lewis Buxton) and (Kieran) Lee.”

Fulham have also been credited with an interest in Bardsley.
