Newcastle United fought back to earn a 1-1 draw against Sunderland – and the game statistics say it’s no more than they deserved.

The Magpies needed Aleksandar Mitrovic’s late leveller to earn them a point after Jermain Defoe’s opener.

The statistics, provided by BBC Sport, were:

Shots: NUFC 17; SAFC 14

Shots on target: NUFC 8; SAFC 4

Corners: NUFC 2; SAFC 5

Fouls: NUFC 14; SAFC 7
