Lions' pride suffers a blow in Serie A

SOUTH Tyneside are going along nicely in the Serie A Division One of the Chase Holmes South Tyneside Youth League.

And they kept up their good form with a 5-1 win over Whiteleas Lions.

Green was on the mark for the Leas with a good finish, with two goals from Nying and a superb hat-trick from the prolific Armour sealing the win for South Tyneside.

Leam Rangers Yellows scored a great 4-3 win over Jarrow Primrose in a close and entertaining match.

Scurfield and Dart were on the mark for Primrose, with Urwin and Devine netting for Leam.

Hebburn Town Gold won 4-1 against Jarrow FC Super Blues.

Hebburn Town Blues came back refreshed from the winter break with a fine 4-0 win against a tough Consett Stars team.

A great five-man move started by Rutherford in defence was calmly finished by Murray with a side-foot shot to put Hebburn in front.

Neil added a second for Town shortly after – putting the finishing touch to a fine pass from Ames.

Consett fought back well, but after a fine save from their keeper, a goalmouth scramble saw Ames make it 3-0.

The second half was much tighter with Consett putting Hebburn's defence under pressure.

However, some excellent handling from Gray in the Hebburn goal prevented the Durham side from getting back into the game.

Hebburn sealed the victory witha great strike from Gardiner, who also rattled the post with a bullet header.

Rutherford was man of the match for Hebburn, who remain top of Serie A.

In Serie B Division One, Primrose Ravens enjoyed a great 5-1 win over Leam Rangers.

A Carter strike, and four goals from the impressive Armour, secured the victory for Ravens.

Real Athletic were too good for FC Sparta in a well-contested and entertaining encounter.

Despite Sparta's best efforts, it was the Hebburn side who ran out 3-1 winners.

Wilson (2), and Reay were on the scoresheet for Real, with star man Carson replying for Sparta.

In a Washington derby, Harraton kept up their good form with a splendid 4-1 win over Fatfield.

Grierson took his chance well for Fatfield, but goals from Mitchell, McCrea (2), and Alexander made sure it was Harraton who took the spoils.

Monkton Vipers are improving all the time, and they recorded an excellent 7-1 win over Consett Cubs.

Thompson (2), Wardle, Keenan and a tremendous hat-trick from Mitchell sealed the win. Clark scored a fine consolation goal for the Cubs.

Consett Stars were too good for Hebburn Town Blues, who put up a spirited show, before going down 4-0.

Singles from Ames, Neil, Murray and Gardiner completed the scoring for the impressive Durham side.
