Yellows and Reds share spoils in U9s cracker

THERE was a cracking game between Leam Rangers Yellows and Monkton Juniors Reds in the Under-9s Premier League.

It ended with honours even in a very competitive 0-0 draw. Both sides had their chances, but a draw looked a fair result.

Leam Lane Rascals put on a great show before going down 4-3 to Harraton Athletic in a seven-goal thriller.

On the scoresheet for Leam were Burns (2) and Lowery, with Frame, Bramton and Large (2) replying for Athletic.

South Shields Raiders scored their first win of the season with a good 3-0 victory over Harraton Athletic. Haynes was the goal-scoring hero with a brilliant hat-trick for the new kids on the block.

Jarrow Boys Reds kept up their unbeaten run with an impressive 3-0 win over Consett Jedis. Goals from Malley, Pounder and McElhatton secured the points.

In a hard-fought game between two of the fancied sides in the division, Monkton Yellows scored a 1-0 win over Leam Rangers.

Davis got the all-important goal, but a mention must go to Monkton's Hardy who was outstanding.

In Division One, new side AC Raiders are starting to find their feet after recording their third victory of the season.

Their 3-0 win over Hebburn Town Gold came courtesy of strikes from Campbell, Palmer and Urwin.

In a good game played in fine spirit, both Jarrow FC Blues and Whiteleas Brazil earned a point in their 2-2 draw.

Man of the match went to Blackburn in defence for the Blues, with Daley outstanding on the wing.

On the mark for Whiteleas were Roberts and Winter, with Daley and Furness replying for Jarrow.

Leaders Ryhope CW scored a good 2-1 win over Whiteleas Barcelona to stay on top of the table. Goals from Kirby and Nunn (2) sent the Sunderland side home happy.

Consett Cannons remain undefeated after they were comfortable 4-0 winners over Hebburn Town Gold, who gave a good account of themselves.

Hodgson, Jackson (2) and Mallon were on the scoresheet for the Durham side.

Jarrow FC Blues played brilliantly in their game against AC Raiders, who never stopped trying.

Wales (2) and Daley ran the line well up front and managed to find the net, as did team-mate Furness to seal a Jarrow win.

South Shields Dial-a-cab and Whitleleas Barcelona battled it out in an excellent match.

Dial-a-cab went close early on when striking the upright, but Barcelona responded when Patterson received the ball by the touchline, dribbled past two defenders and coolly slotted home for his first goal in three years.

Whiteleas made it 2-0 when a long clearance by McGarrity found Todd, who tucked his chance away well.

Turnbull completed the scoring when he was put through by star man Patterson to smash home and secure a 3-0 win.

Ryhope took on Whiteleas Brazil and kept up their good form with a 3-1 win, thanks to strikes from Carroll and Nunn (2), with Roberts replying for Whiteleas.

FC Sparta went down 2-1 after making a brave fight of it against Consett Cannons.

Jackson and Collingwood netted in style for the Durham outfit, with Seff grabbing Sparta's goal and Hope getting the man of the match award.

Sparta then took on Hebburn Town Blues, and came away with a very good 6-2 win.

Gibson netted twice for Hebburn, but goals from star man Houston (2), Seff and a brilliant hat-trick from Carman secured the points.
