Handy Andy impresses United new boy

NEWCASTLE United new boy Hatem Ben Arfa can't wait to link up with man of the moment Andy Carroll.

French winger Ben Arfa sealed a protracted loan move to United from Marseille last month before the transfer window closed.

He will be in the squad for Saturday's home clash with Blackpool, although given the Magpies' good start to the season, he is likely to start the game on the bench.

The 23-year-old admits he is itching to get on the pitch as soon as possible – and in particular to provide more service to Carroll, who has made a blistering start to the season with four goals in his first three games.

"I have seen Andy play in two matches so far," said Ben Arfa.

"I have been very impressed with how hard he works for the team.

"I think there are a lot of players in the side who have got that same great work ethic as Andy. That brings a great quality to the team.

"There is a superb atmosphere amongst these players and it took me back straight away.

"There is a really, really good feeling within the group, and the training centre.

"I have been impressed with a lot of the players, they have such great skill and technique."

Ben Arfa's move to Tyneside wasn't without controversy, as Marseille originally blocked the switch as they held out for more money.

The France international even flew to Newcastle in an attempt to force his club's hand, and after much wrangling the loan deal was finally agreed.

The protracted nature of the move has made Ben Arfa even more impatient to pull on a black and white shirt and show the Toon Army that he was worth the wait.

"I am very impatient," he added. "I want to get out on the pitch as soon as possible and play for Newcastle.

"I'm dying to get out there and show what I can do.

"I won't lie, I am desperate to get the shirt on for the first time and get out there in front of the supporters."
