FOOTBALL CALL ... Jarrow FC under-nines are on the lookout for players.

YOUNG footballers are being invited to get on the ball with a town side.

Jarrow FC under-nines team is looking for additional players for its second team.

To be eligible, players should be in Year 4 at schools in South Tyneside.

Training for Jarrow FC takes place on Mondays and Wednesdays, between 6pm and 7pm, at Clegwell CA, in Mountbatten Avenue, Hebburn.

Kevin Van Enk, for Jarrow FC, said: “We hope to have the team ready and playing fixtures from June. Why not come along and have a go?

“All you need for your first session is a pair of trainers, shin pads and a drink.”

Jarrow FC was established in 1980 by several enthusiastic individuals who had played football in their formative years at Perth Green Community Association, the Scotch Estate, Jarrow.

Their idea was to launch a local club for the community, in the hope of offering facilities and training which were unavailable during their own playing days.

Last year, the club merged with Harton and Westoe Club, to take advantage of the fact that the two clubs had different ends of the age range.

The club maintained the Jarrow FC name and now has experience right through the club for different age groups.

Young people are invited to get involved with Jarrow FC.
