Boldon ambitious on and off the field

AMBITIOUS Boldon are hoping developments off the field can be matched by those on the pitch as they look to stride forward.

The Wearside League outfit have already stated their desire to progress into the Northern League in the near future.

And they are continuing to put plans in place away from the playing side to help them realise this dream.

In a new development, the club is in talks with a retailer to open a shop in the ground to sell sports clothes and equipment, and have also appointed a commercial manager to bring in funds to enable the club to progress into the Northern League.

On the pitch, meanwhile, Boldon turn their attention to another knockout competition after their defeat in the Durham Challenge Cup at home to Crook last weekend.

Management duo Doug Key and Darren Palmmer were disappointed not to progress in that tournament, but now must focus the players on another challenging game at New Marske in the Monkwearmouth Cup.

Boldon have lost Shaun Carroll, who has returned to Hebburn, but midfielder James Whitehead has signed from Birtley.

Mark Johnson, Michael Irving and Stephen Green are unavailable, but new father Darren Wann returns.
