Roofing and Shields games are off

JARROW Roofing's Ernest Armstrong Memorial Cup match at home to Washington tonight has been postponed.

Heavy rain over the last 24 hours has waterlogged Roofing's pitch, as it did at the weekend when their league game at home to Stokesley failed to go ahead.

Boss Richie McLoughlin did try to switch tonight's game to Washington, but their pitch was also unplayable.

South Shields have also cancelled their proposed friendly with neighbours Boldon CA at Filtrona Park.

Secretary Phil Reay said: "It took all day Sunday to get the pitch right after Saturday's game.

"It's been flooded again, and there was no point in hammering it for the sake of a friendly, so we took the decision to call the game off."
