Get ready to rumble as an action-packed wrestling show comes to South Shields.

Embrionix 4.7 is hoping to entertain the whole family at The Roadhouse, in Stanhope Road, on Sunday.

The event is being staged by wrestling training school the Lair of Lucha, which has been putting on shows in the area for the last five years.

It stars a host of characters and follows a continuous story between events.

The company’s general manager, Lauren Richardson, said: “This is a monthly show that we’ve been doing for about five or six years, but this is our first show at the Roadhouse.

“It’s a continuing story that runs like serial episodes every month and there’s a lot of rivalry between the characters.

“People don’t need to haver seen any of the shows before though, they’ll pick it up straight away.

“There’s a lot of rivalry between the different wrestlers and a lot of banter between them.

“But we have new people coming in every couple of months as well to make their debut.”

Lauren says the show is aimed at all the family and that the parents always enjoy them as much as the kids.

She added: “We have some fantastic matches lined up for the night at the Roadhouse, and we really want to make our first show there a big one – everyone is really excited for it and wants to make it as great as possible.

“There are certain characters that the kids just love and you can see the excitement in their faces when they come out into the ring.

“The kids love the banter back and forth between the characters as well and they get really riled up.

“The adults always seem to love the shows as well though.

“Some of the wrestlers are quite obvious as the favourites with the audience. We have one who is a wrestling scarecrow and the kids always go absolutely wild for him. It’s going to be a great night.”

Tickets for the 6pm show cost £3 for children, £5 for adults and £14 for a family of four. People can pay on the door.
