Andy Burn, from Jarrow and Hebburn AC, clipped 23 seconds off his previous best time for the 5km course in the Gateshead Park Run on Saturday.
Burn forged clear of Heaton’s Scott Milne over the paths of Saltwell Park, finishing two minutes 21 seconds ahead with a scorching time of 16:03.
Mark Hodgson, from the home club, was a decisive winner of the South Shields Park Run on Saturday.
South Shields Harrier Hodgson finished 47 seconds in front of Saltwell’s Dale McCallum with 18:11 for the 5km over the Leas.
James Martin, aged 16, from Jarrow and Hebburn AC, was third in 19:13, with Shields’ Will Crossley fifth in 19:20 and Liam Hetherington sixth in 19:24.
Gavin Harrison was ninth in 19:31, with Jarrow’s David Shearan 14th in 20:03 and Shields’ Peter Walker 16th in 20:09 and first over 60.
Ian Stephenson was 20th in 20:46, with Jarrow’s Mike McNally 22nd in 21:00 and third over 50, and Shields’ Dave Deacon 23rd in 21:12 and fourth over 50.
Jarrow’s Malcolm Leece was 34th in 22:24, with Alan Martin 35th in 22:33 and Shields’ James Knox 43rd in 22:59.
Ian Maughan finished 52nd in 23:26, with Tommy Copp 54th in 23:33 and first over 65.
Ben Weston, aged 11, was 81st in 25:44, with Harry Ayre, aged 10, 84th in 25:49.
Jacob Ayre, 11, was 87th in 26:06 with Alexanda Weston, 10, 93rd in 26:31.
Ellen Roberts, of Heaton, finished 19th overall in the mixed field of 237, taking the women’s title in 20:42.
Shields’ Chloe Smith was third in 25:00, with Susan Burgess fifth in 25:50 and Claire Stoker 12th in 26:47 and Lesley Downey 14th in 26:58.
Jeanette Hewitson was 15th in 27:14 and first over 50, with Jackie Heads 17th in 28:00 and second over 45.
Ellen White was 19th in 28:17, with Faye Cavelle 24th in 28:41 and Claire Weston 25th in 28:51.
Suzanne Connor was 27th in a personal best time of 29:26, with Adrenne Stephenson 31st in 29:35 and Patricia White 33rd in 30:09 and first over 60.
Tammy Kirton finished 34th in 30:32 with Michelle Loftus 35th in 30:51.
