Newcastle, Sunderland, Liverpool, Manchester United and Chelsea made transfer headlines today

NEWCASTLE United and Sunderland featured heavily in today’s gossip pages, as did big-hitters Liverpool, Manchester United and Chelsea.

Today’s media outlets were full of transfer stories as the summer scramble begins to take place.

For Newcastle, the Daily Star claimed Alan Pardew wants to sign free agents Steve Sidwell, 31, and Jack Colback, 24, Manchester United winger Wilfried Zaha, 21, and Tenerife striker Ayoze Perez, 20.

On the Sunderland front, the Daily Mail followed up the story we brought you yesterday about an interest in signing Crystal Palace goalkeeper Julian Speroni, 35, who is a free agent despite Palace discussing an extension to his contract.

Manchester City goalkeeper Costel Pantilimon, 27, who is out of contract on 1 July, has also been linked with the Black Cats.
