Rafa Benitez takes his second-bottom side to relegated Aston Villa on May 7 for the penultimate game of a troubled season.

Newcastle quickly sold their 2,900-seat allocation for the Premier League fixture, and an extra 100 tickets with restricted views were also snapped up yesterday.

A United fan suggested to the club on Twitter that it should ask for more tickets.

But Newcastle tweeted: "We have asked for more seats at Villa Park, but have been declined unfortunately. Our apologies."

A crowd of 29,729 – around 13,000 short of capacity – watched Villa's last home game.

Villa Park, which is where United were relegated in 2009, can hold 42,785 supporters.

In an attempt to stop Newcastle fans infiltrating the home end, Villa are only selling tickets in the home areas to supporters who have previously bought tickets from them.

Meanwhile, United's home game against Crystal Palace on Saturday is set for a sell out.

The club had just 1,000 tickets left yesterday.
