Benitez has held more talks about staying on at St James’s Park next season, with reports claiming that he has had the assurances he needs to commit to the Magpies.
However, it would mean that chief scout and board member Graham Carr potentially leaving the club, with the 71-year-old retiring from football.

Hide AdWith Carr leaving, recruitment of players will essentially be Benitez’s responsibility, and he has immediately been linked with a move for one of his former players.
Danish defender Daniel Agger played under the Spaniard at Liverpool, and has been mentioned as possibly linking up again with his former boss.
