DURHAM Cricket Club headed off to sunnier climes as they stepped up their preparations for the 2012 season.

Geoff Cook’s men flew out to Dubai today, and will spend nine days in the UAE as part of their pre-season build-up.

Durham will kick off the trip with a 40-over clash against an MCC combined universitities side on Thursday, and will also compete in the Emirates Airline Twenty20 Trophy at The Sevens Stadium a day later. The Dynamos will round off their spell in the UAE with a one-day game against Sussex Sharks on Monday, and two-day friendly which starts the following day.

Durham will return to the UK a week on Thursday, and will face Yorkshire in a pre-season friendly at Emirates ICG, starting on April 1.
