Hebburn aim to make Civil Service pay
HEBBURN will be keen to bounce back to winning ways when they play the Civil Service in Northumberland League Division Two tomorrow.
Hebburn hold a four-point lead over Tillside in the title race, while Ulgham Village are a further eight points behind in third.
The South Tynesiders are without several key batsmen –Aidan Berry, Lee Tatum, Michael Collins (holiday) and Seb Aklaque, Graeme Taylor (work) will all be missing.
The Civil Service's batting has improved in recent weeks, while they have the league's second leading wicket-aker in Andrew Waite, so Hebburn will be wary of a dangerous opponent especially with a weakened side.
In the absence of Lee Tatum, Nick Whitehead, Hebburn's leading run- scorer (470) of the season will captain the side.
He said: "The team are looking forward to the match and we're all determined to do our best and enjoy the game".
Hebburn will be hoping the weather doesn't play a role on Saturday, as the match has been switched from Hebburn's home pitch to Belsay, where there are no covers protecting the wicket during the week.
Neither Hebburn nor Civil Service's home grounds are available to stage the fixture.
