Marsden Cricket Club face tough Durham Senior League return against champions Kimblesworth

MARSDEN’S return to Durham Senior League action is a tough one with their opening encounter away to reigning champions Kimblesworth, writes SID CORNER.

Despite this, skipper Chris Mann is highly optimistic for the season.

Impressive new signings Mirza Baig and Paul Snaith slot straight into the team along with Paul Cassell, who rejoins the club.

Paul Hobson also makes a welcome return after battling back from serious long-term injury.

James Sneller, last season’s leading wicket taker in the Durham County League, will be out to impress in his new role as vice captain.

Ryan Little has made huge strides this winter and takes on the wicket-keeping duties, while Patrick Jackson, Steven Nielson, Mark Symington and Ryan Downes make up Marsden’s youthful, but talented starting XI.

In the reverse fixture, Marsden’s second XI face an equally difficult opening game. Skipper and veteran campaigner Graeme Burn goes into the game, which is being sponsored by former player Bob Wastell, with a strong experienced side.

The club has also announced two great new sponsorship deals with Freemans Catering Butchers and Dial-A-Car for the season.
