Following four consecutive league wins, Leas sit in second place, just one point behind leaders Peterlee and will be hoping to maintain their winning streak.

Having missed last week’s emphatic victory over Boldon CA, captain Owen Peterson returns to the fold believing there is still more to come from his side, particularly in the batting department.

“It may sound strange sitting one point off top spot, but we haven’t fully shown what we’re capable as a top and middle order yet,” he said.

“I’ve discussed with the players the importance of partnerships and I’m confident that it’s a matter of time before we realise our batting potential – hopefully starting tomorrow.”

Leas were bowled out for a relatively paltry total last weekend against Boldon, scoring just 146, but were indebted to the fast bowling of overseas star Abdul Ameer for guiding them to victory after he took nine wickets in a blistering spell, skittling their opponents for just 55 runs.

One batsman the skipper has to do without, for the KP Simpson Certified Accountants sponsored game, is holidaying opener Alex Thomas. However, Scott Oliver returns to the line up and is expected to fill the vacant opening spot.

The game is due to start at 1.30pm, weather permitting.

The second XI make the trip to Murton in the return fixture. Sid Corner Snr welcomes back young batsman Milad Khokhar to his side as they search for their fourth consecutive victory.
