Roofing boss fears fixtures backlog

JARROW Roofing boss Richie McLoughlin is desperate to get his side's home game with Brandon tomorrow played.

The Roofers were inactive last weekend when their game with Stokesley was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch.

And it was a similar story in midweek, when their home clash with Washington in the Ernest Armstrong Memorial Cup was also called off.

Roofing have played the fewest number of games in the Northern League Division Two this season.

And McLoughlin wants to avoid the possibility of getting too far behind in their fixtures as he tries to steer the club back into the top flight.

He admitted: "We don't want a fixture backlog – that's why I was desperate to get the game against Washington played.

"We wanted it to go ahead after the weekend's game was called off, and tried to get it switched to Washington's pitch, but theirs was waterlogged too."

McLoughlin will be without the suspended pair of striker Tony Thirkell and defender Stuart Dixon, but Kris Hughes could return from a hamstring injury.

McLoughlin added: "I think it will be a hard game, even though they (Brandon) are up and down.

"They beat Hebburn last weekend, who had been going well, so it could be tough."
