Durham Seconds succumbed to an eight-wicket defeat to Scotland A in a hastily-arranged 50-over friendly at the Emirates Riverside today.

Durham wrapped up the scheduled three-day game inside two days on Wednesday, so the sides opted for a one-day rematch.

Despite a 70-ball 69 from Paul Coughlin, with a six and four boundaries, plus 34 from Gordon Muchall, Durham were all out for 178 in 43.3 overs.

The Scots, crushed in the original match, eased to victory, reaching 179-2 in the 31st over.

Ex-Durham batsman Kyle Coetzer led the way with 10 fours and a six in his knock of 72 before being dismissed by Gurman Randhawa.

Mark Watt added an unbeaten 72.
