South Shields return to league action this weekend after a weekend off with a vital away trip to Seaton Carew.

Stuart Robson’s men know that nothing short of a win is good enough against a side who have had similar struggles.

Seaton Carew are yet to win a game and sit on five league points having picked up losing bonus points in five of their six defeats.

Shields go into the game missing some key personnel with Robson hoping that won’t knock his side who have generated good momentum from their last few games.

Alex Welland, Jonah McIntyre and Matty Chaganis are all missing. That could give Liam Newall a chance to stake his claim having missed out the past two weeks.

With Welland missing, it could give new boy Matthew Soroka a chance to shine having signed for the club last weekend.

Soroka played for the club’s Second XV last Saturday and impressed on his debut.

Grant Borrill and Steven Lockney are likely to be recalled while another new boy, Nigerian born Klaus Dohrn, could be called up.

The game is set for a 3pm at Seaton Carew’s Hornby Park (TS25 2AZ).

The club’s Second XV are also in league action as they travel to Medicals RFC (3pm KO).
