Ponteland currently sit in second place with 86 points, 10 points behind league leaders Redcar, and three above third placed Whitley Bay Rockcliff.

In the reverse fixture back in November, Ponteland were dominant winners, running out 49-5 victors.

Shields welcome back Mark Walker to add some much needed creativity to the backs, while Matty Soroka is also available.

Liam Newall, Ian Arkley and Marcus Colborne could be included in the match day squad.

In the pack, the game comes to early for lock Dan McKay, who is still recovering from a calf tear suffered in the defeat to Darlington earlier this month.

Louis Kellett could return, while Alex Wylie is available and likely to start in place of Matty Chaganis.

Martin Bengston returns having missed last week’s County Cup semi-final defeat at Bishop Auckland, as does Todd Riley.

Kick off is 3pm at Grosvenor Road, South Tyneside College.

South Shields Mariners are also in action when they host Westoe II at Brinkburn (2pm).
