South Shields Westoe RFC make the short hop across the Tyne tomorrow to play Newcastle based Northern RFC.
Northern, like Westoe, were relegated from North 1 East last season and are lying in second place having won four out of their five league matches.
The two clubs have played only two of the same teams in the league, this being Hartlepool Rovers and Horden.
Both sides came away with the same results, both losing to Rovers and beating Horden.
Last season, the league honours were even with both teams winning their home fixture. So Saturdays encounter so be a good one for supporters.
The Lookers sponsored South Shields Westoe are riding high with two back-to-back wins.
Last week saw them put in a good performance against lowly Gosforth at Wood Terrace.
However, the players had their loyal home support with their hearts in their mouths by allowing the away team back into the match with two very quick tries late on in the match.
But Westoe held on to come away winners 30-19. This weekend’s match will be a harder contest as Northern look like they have a strong defence having only conceded 89 points in their five matches.
Westoe need to convert all thier chances and, hopefully, have lady luck on their side which eluded them in their first three matches of this season, were each match was lost by just an average of five points.
Captain Andrew Kirton said: “There is a great spirit in and around the club at the moment.
“The numbers at training are increasing and the lad’s moral is high.”
The second team are at home to Darlington Mowden Park third team. Both matches KO 3.00pm.
