'Toon pair are going nowhere', says Hughton

NILE Ranger and Tamas Kadar have been told they won't be farmed out by Newcastle United.

The pair, on the fringes of Chris Hughton's squad, are desperate for first-team opportunties.

But they will have to wait for chances at St James's Park, and won't follow goalkeeper Fraser Forster and Kazenga LuaLua out on loan.

In any case, Ranger himself told the Gazette in pre-season he didn't wait to be farmed out, and was prepared to be patient.

However, former Swindon Town defender Ben Tozer – who turned out for Leyton Orient in pre-season – will be allowed out if he can find a Football League club.

And teenage quartet Brad Inman, Ryan Donaldson, Greg McDermott and Shane Ferguson could also be allowed out to gain more first-team experience.

Ranger and Kadar made their first starts of the season in last week's Carling Cup tie against Accrington Stanley, the pair helping Hughton's side to a 3-2 success.

And the pair will be hoping to be involved away to Premier League champions Chelsea in the competition's third round, though Hughton is likely to send out a more experienced team at Stamford Bridge than at the Crown Ground.

"The Carling Cup is a chance to give people games," Hughton told the Gazette.

"We don't expect many more going out on loan, possibly one, maybe two.

"When I look at the fringe group lads like Ranger and Kadar, they're so close to the first team. They have a chance of playing.

"We have players like Inman and McDermott, who are developing this season.

"Maybe Ferguson and Donaldson are the type of players who are in the middle and need to go out on loan.

"We don't need to make those decisions this week, we'll look at it again."

As for Tozer, his long-term future looks away from St James's Park, while forgotten striker Fabio Zamblera is working his way back to fitness after missing much of pre-season through injury.

Hughton went on: "They're still contracted to the club.

"Ben's been out pre-season to a couple of clubs.

"We have told him we'd be prepared to let him go out on loan. That hasn't happened yet.

"Zamblera's been injured for more or less the whole of the pre-season period. At this moment, he's still very much our player."

Forster is on a year-long loan at Celtic, and LuaLua is at Brighton and Hove Albion until January.

Meanwhile, The Clock Tavern, Hebburn, still has places left for Newcastle's away clash with Everton on September 18.

The bus to Goodison Park will leave the pub, Victoria Road East, at 8am. For more information, call 489 3556.
