Whiteleas and Harton CC welcome Horden to the Welfare ground tomorrow (1.30pm start) for this weekend’s DCL First Division clash.

Leas currently occupy second spot, 13 points behind leaders Seaham Park, with both sides possessing an unbeaten record.

Tomorrow’s visitors were widely tipped to be one of the favourites for league honours, but have experienced an indifferent start with five games gone so far.

However, Leas are fully aware of the threat they pose, especially with overseas star Lal Kumar now at their disposal.

A hotly anticipated contest is expected between Kumar and fellow Pakistani Abdul Ameer, both of who are familiar with each other from first class competitions in their homeland.

Leas once again are forced into changes with both skipper Owen Peterson and vice Scott Oliver unavailable.

However, returning duo Rob Scorer and Ray McRae will take the reigns as captain and vice respectively.

There is also a return for opening batsman Andrew Potts, who has shaken off a hamstring injury.

Covering captain Scorer is looking forward to the challenge and expects the players to give another good account of themselves.

Scorer said “We’ve made a great start to the season and everyone is buzzing.

“All we can do is continue to perform to the best of our abilities and hopefully keep the run going.”

The Second XI make the trip to Horden and will be hoping to get back to winning ways following last week’s abandoned game against Tudhoe.

Captain Sid Corner Snr once again has a strong squad to choose from, but unfortunately, Andrew Davies is unavailable due to work commitments.
