Who will fill the shoes of Mr Hebburn?
HEBBURN Town are seeking applications for the vacant manager's position after the resignation last week of long-serving Tony Robinson.
Club press officer Alan Armstrong said: "We've had a couple of enquiries about the job, but we want to do everything through the right channels."
A club statement said: "Hebburn Town Football Club are inviting applications from suitable candidates for the vacant position.
"The club plays at level six within the football league pyramid in the Northern League Second Division and enter the FA Cup and Vase competitions each year, in addition to the Durham Challenge Cup and other knock-out competitions sponsored by the Northern League.
"Interested persons with suitable experience who consider that they can improve our position in the pyramid should apply in writing to the secretary Mr Tom Derrick, 63 Staneway, Felling, Gateshead NE10 8LS."
One of the names linked with the position was JARROW boss Dave Bell, but he told the Gazette: "I have heard the rumours, but there is no truth in them."
Bell, instead, is focusing on guiding Jarrow to a top-six finish in the Wearside League, and they play title favourites Newton Aycliffe tomorrow.
Bell added: "We have Keith Hallway injured, Daryl Turnbull and Jonathan Matthews doubtful, and Craig Armstrong missing.
"We will need a good performance, as Newton Aycliffe are a very good side who are battling it out to win the league.
"I am confident on our day that we are a match for any team in our league, but we need to perform to the level we are capable of, otherwise we will get nothing out of the game."
SIMONSIDE are another team looking for a strong finish to the season, and need two wins from their last four league games to secure the Durham Alliance title.
Sima could have clinched it in midweek had they beaten second-placed Whitehill, but a 2-1 reverse meant the gap at the top was closed to just a point.
Gordon Diamond's side could take one step closer to the championship though when they travel to Brandon British Legion tomorrow, but he must contend with weary legs in his squad, with Sima's hectic recent schedule starting to catch up with them.
