A BUDDING radio presenter from South Tyneside is set to host a show featuring one of his favourite TV stars.
Benidorm actress Crissy Rock is keeping her word to 23-year-old David Johnson, who works at South Tyneside Hospital Radio.
The pair met after a show at the Customs House, in South Shields, when the comedian was playing to a sell-out audience in 2012.
Crissy will be at Hedworth Hall, in Dean Road, South Shields, with her stand-up show on Sunday.
David, from Jarrow, said: “I told Crissy how much I enjoyed her in the jungle with Ant and Dec when she was on I’m A Celebrity, and also in Benidorm.
“I asked her if it would ever be possible to host one of her shows if she ever appeared back in Shields in the future.
“I was amazed when I was contacted by her team to ask me if I would like to bring her on stage at Hedworth Hall this weekend.
“Crissy has also promised to give me an interview to feature in my radio work.
“I’m so excited to be hosting the evening and my family have been invited to watch me on stage with Crissy, so I really can’t wait to get started. I will be asking them to take some pictures of me, so I can post on Facebook and Twitter to show my friends.”
Crissy said: “I first met David a couple of years ago, and during our conversation he was telling me how he would love to be more involved in the entertainment business, and how he lived for being on the radio and interviewing people that were well known.
“He asked me if he could ever host one of my shows if I return to the area, and I promised him I would try to sort it if it was possible.
“We have a mutual friend in radio presenter Paul “Goffy” Gough, and as soon as I knew I was heading back to South Tyneside, I asked Goffy to invite David to host my show this weekend.
“David is a lovely lad, he has a wonderful attitude and a great eagerness to be the best he can.
“I’m so pleased to see him working as a DJ and also loving being on the radio – he has a very positive attitude, and he is a great inspiration to many.”
A Benidorm Evening with Crissy Rock runs from 8pm. Tickets cost £6 and are available from Hedworth Hall by calling 456 3112.
