SOUTH Shields comedian Sarah Millican has been hearing wedding bells.

The 38-year-old took to her Twitter account yesterday to announce she has tied the knot with fellow comedian Gary Delaney.

The comic, originally from Chichester, South Shields, told her one million followers: “Thrilled to announce that @garydelaney and I got married last weekend. We are loved up and beaming. X”

Millican’s fans rushed to leave messages congratulating the pair, calling them a “great couple” and saying that she would have made “a beautiful bride”.

BBC Radio Newcastle’s Alfie Joey, who had a role in TV sitcom Hebburn, tweeted, saying they “go together like horse and carriage as my kinda singer sung! Lovely news!”

Comedian and actor Rufus Hound also left a message.

“They are both extremely talented comics.

“We had the pleasure of Sarah starting her latest tour, Home Bird, with us in September, and Gary is headlining at our Comedy House night on April 23.

“Being on Sarah’s home turf, we hope there’s no jokes about his new in-laws!”

Millican burst onto the comedy scene in 2008, after winning the Best Newcomer award at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe.

She has become a regular face on TV, appearing on panel and quiz shows including 8 Out Of 10 Cats and Would I Lie To You?
