THIS is the debut album from the London-born dubstep producer, who created a wave of excitement last year with a series of impressive EPs.
It never quite reaches the heights you feel he’s capable of, but it is effective in showcasing his innovative electronic sound.
Blake’s use of silence throughout the record is particularly intriguing, as it creates a cold and intense atmosphere not dissimilar to that popularised by The XX.
At just 22, he certainly has time with which he can improve, but some cuts here, such as A Wilhelm Scream and I Never Learnt To Share, suggest he could already be on his way towards brilliance. 7/10. AW.
