THOUSANDS of excited music fans have descended on the Stadium of Light for North East Live.
The second day-long pop music extravaganza has attracted about 30,000 adults and children to the home of the Black Cats to see 10 chart topping acts perform on SAFC’s hallowed pitch.
The day kicked off with a performance from up-and-coming American pop star Austin Mahone, who excited the younger members of the audience with tracks from his debut album The Secret.
Former X Factor contestants Union J, who were fourth to take to the stage, returned to perform at the family event for a second year and thanked fans for making the day a “highlight” for them.
The fun-filled atmosphere is set to continue when pint sized dub step artist Katy B takes to the stage next.
The fiery red head is expected to play tracks from her new album Little Red, and first album Katy On A Mission.
The Vamps have also returned to the day-long music festival to thrill crowds, and will take to the stage to perform, among other tracks, top 10 singles Can We Dance, Last Night and Wild Heart from their debut album Meet The Vamps.
Lively duo Rizzle Kicks will perform later, and the night will be rounded off with performances from girl band The Saturdays, who have sold more than four million albums, and international music stars Jason Derulo and Jessie J.
R ‘n’ B artist Derulo is giving one of the only outdoor performances on the UK leg of his Tattoos album tour at the Wearside stadium, and is sure to excite crowds with plethora of hits and dance moves.
Audience favourite and pop princess Jessie J is top of the bill, and is set to fill the Stadium of Light with her trademark vocals.
So far, the second North East Live is proving to be a smash hit.
