ONE of the biggest bands of the 1970s are coming to South Tyneside – and you could meet them backstage.
10cc are performing in Bents Park, South Shields, on Sunday, July 20.
The gig is part of this year’s South Tyneside Summer Festival, and will see the band supported by UK Rock Legends.
The concert kicks off at the park in Sea Road at 1pm.
It is the second of three free gigs, starting a week tomorrow with a show by Irish pop group B*Witched, X Factor champion Shayne Ward, South Shields band The Waiters and singer Chelsea Wood.
The last of the gigs, featuring M People lead singer Heather Small, takes place on Sunday, July 27.
10cc were initially made up of four musicians who had written and recorded together for three years before assuming the name 10cc in 1972.
Graham Gouldman is the only original member remaining.
The band split in 1976, with some members choosing to continue as a trio.
They stayed together until 1983, before parting to work on separate projects, then reuniting in 1991.
The band are famous for hits including Rubber Bullets, I’m Not In Love and Dreadlock Holiday, No 1s in 1973. 1975 and 1978 respectively.
