THE stars of the hit TV series Hebburn are getting together again for a special charity gig.

Jason Cook and a host of his comedy pals are staging the second Hebburn Charity Gala.

The event, at Hebburn RAOB Club on Friday, April 25, will raise cash for four causes.

Jason, who wrote TV comedy sitcom Hebburn, will perform at the William Street club alongside fellow comic Steffen Peddie and South Shields singer Rosie Winter, as well as some surprise guests and familiar faces from the BBC2 sitcom.

Tickets for the gig are already sold out. It will raise fund for Jarrow-based Poppleton Dance, cancer charity Clic Sargent, the British Thyroid Foundation and Relay For Life.

Jason, who comes from Hebburn, said: “We did this last year at two venues and raised £10,000. We decided to just do one venue this year because it was so hectic with everyone running between the two places.

“We want to raise as much as we can for the charities and have a night where we can all be together having a good laugh.

“We’ll be able to mess around together on stage a lot more this time since we’ll all be together.”

Jason, who also stars in Hebburn as Ramsey, added: “It definitely looks like this is going to become an annual thing.

“This one sold out in one day and we’re really happy about it and hoping to raise as much as we can for the charities.

“I think if you’re in a position to help a charity out then you should.

“Because we’ve just got the one venue, I don’t know if we’ll raise as much as last time, but whatever we can pull in will be great.”

Steffen, who stars in Hebburn as Big Keith, said: “I’m very excited. At the last one, I only got to dash onto the stage for two minutes at the end of the night at one of the venues, but this time I’m doing some stand-up so I’m really looking forward to it.

“We’ll be doing our best this time to raise as much as we can and put on the best show that we can.

“I promise it will be lush, and if it’s not, I’ll decorate everyone’s living rooms.”

n Jason and Steffen will both be on stage at the Customs House tonight as part of a new monthly event, The Comedy House. Jason Cook’s School Of Hard Knocks is on BBC Radio 4 at 6.30pm on Thursdays.
