THAMES GIG ... Joe McElderry is set to sing on London Bridge.

SOUTH Shields X Factor winner Joe McElderry has been invited to perform at the summer party on London Bridge to celebrate the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Water Pageant.

The 20-year-old from Marsden will also sing for guests on board a Dunkirk ship, The Viscount, which is to take part in the flotilla on the River Thames on Sunday, says his record firm Decca.

The event will see hundreds of boats on the river as a tribute to the Queen’s 60 years on the throne and raise funds for The Royal British Legion.

Joe, who has actively supported the Jubilee celebrations, said: “I’m thrilled to be part of The Royal British Legion’s salute to Her Majesty The Queen on her Diamond Jubilee.

“I’m also very proud to be supporting the UK’s leading charity supporting Her Majesty’s Armed Forces.

“I performed at The Royal British Legion Festival of Remembrance last year and it was one of the highlights of my career so far. I’m very honoured to be invited back to perform for them once again.”

Next Monday, he will be doing a duet with American star Dionne Warwick at the Royal Albert Hall in aid of World Hunger Day.
