ALT-rock outfit Placebo are back with their seventh album, and I’m pleased to report it’s something of a return to form after 2009’s underwhelming Battle For The Sun.
Starting with the title track, which has released as a single, it’s a solid rather than spectacular effort; there’s nothing, for example, to rival past glories such as Nancy Boy or Teenage Angst.
But there are some good songs here: Too Many Friends, Rob The Bank and Exit Wounds, to name just three.
It should follow their previous six records into the UK Top 20, though it remains a mystery why they’re not as big at home as in Europe. 7/10. GW
