Blake feel like they’re coming home

THEY might be southern boys, but classical pop group Blake say they feel like they’re coming home every time they visit South Shields.

The singers, recently reduced to a trio, are coming to the town’s Customs House next month.

They’ll be at the Mill Dam venue on Thursday, March 21.

Member Stephen Bowman said: “The Customs House is such a lovely venue, and we always look forward to going there.

“The audience is absolutely up for it and great fun. None of us was born in that part of the world, but we always feel like we’re doing a homecoming gig when we play at the Customs House.

“The shows sell out every year, and everyone is so welcoming.”

The former foursome have lost member Jules Knight as he’s off to join the cast of the BBC1 hospital drama Holby City, but they say they’re enjoying it being just the three of them.

Stephen said: “We’ve been advertising for a new member, but, to be honest, we’re really enjoying being a trio.

“If someone came along who was fantastic, then we would consider taking them on, but we’re not sure what we want to do at the minute.

“Being just three of us has given us a whole new stage dynamic and a really different sound, and the audiences are loving it just as much as we are.”

The group’s new album, Start Over, is set to be released on Monday, March 11.

Tickets for the band’s 7.45pm show cost £20, £19 for concessions. To book, go to www.customshouse.co.uk or call the box office on 454 1234.

* We’ve got a pair of tickets to give away for the show.

To be in with a chance of winning, just tell us which hospital drama band member Jules has left to star in.
