MUSIC development agency Generator has made an 11th-hour appeal for the North East’s best emerging talent to make a pitch for stardom.
It is searching for acts to play this year’s Evolution Emerging – a mini festival staged across several venues in Newcastle’s Ouseburn Valley on Evolution Festival Weekend.
Evolution Emerging takes place on Saturday, May 25, and will see more than two dozen emerging artists playing alongside big headliners.
Generator is asking regional bands and solo artists from any genre to apply to play.
For the first time, one artist will be offered the chance to open the main stage at Evolution itself, being held on NewcastleGateshead Quayside on May 26 and 27.
Last year’s event featured artists such as Dizzee Rascal, Deadmau5, Maximo Park, Rizzle Kicks, Miles Kane and many more, so it is a fantastic opportunity for local talent.
The deadline for applications is 11.59pm tonight, so artists intending to apply have just a few hours left to follow the three-step application process quickly.
They need to log on to www.generator.org.uk/evolutionemerging, fill in an application form, submit a track of their work via SoundCloud, and then share it.
Sharing tracks with fans and friends is intended to generate interaction, gain feedback and help Generator choose which artists make the cut.
Joe Frankland, artist development manager at Generator, said: “Now in its fifth year, Evolution Emerging is the highlight of the North-East gig calendar.
“Last year’s hugely-popular event really cemented our reputation for discovering the region’s best new bands and solo artists.
“But we know there’s plenty more out there, so once again we’re inviting the best emerging talent to apply to play.”
