JESSIE J will be going Wild on Wearside as part of a pop spectacular at Sunderland’s Stadium of Light.
SAFC has announced that the singer – famous for hits including Wild, Price Tag and Domino – will headline North East Live next summer.
American RnB singer Jason Derulo, girl group the Saturdays, hip-hop duo Rizzle Kicks and boy bands Union J and the Vamps will also perform at the region’s biggest pop concert on Sunday, June 22.
More big names are expected to be added to the event’s line-up in the coming weeks.
Promoter AEG Live chose to bring the pop extravaganza back to Sunderland after the success of the first North East Live this year, which saw JLS, Little Mix, the Wanted, Rita Ora and more perform at the home of the Black Cats.
SAFC commercial director Gary Hutchinson said: “Naturally, we are absolutely delighted that the event is coming back to the Stadium of Light.
“This year’s North East Live was a fantastic event, so it’s great to be working with AEG again on what proved to be such a hugely successful format.
“There is a great line-up already in place for 2014, and it’s one that I’m sure will appeal to a diverse audience.
“The show really does have something for everyone, and it’s an affordable price for what will be a great day’s entertainment.”
AEG Live promoter Sam Bush said: “After this year’s hugely successful inaugural event, we are absolutely delighted to be back at the Stadium of Light.
“It’s a fantastic line-up, and North East Live 2014 is going to be bigger and better than ever.”
Jason Derulo, whose hits include Talk Dirty, will be jetting in from the US to play his only outdoor UK tour dates for 2014 at a series of AEG Live gigs.
Tickets for the family-friendly gig are priced from £25 and will go on sale from 10am on Saturday.
Earlier this year, the club announced that One Direction, currently one of the biggest bands in the world, will open the UK leg of their world tour in Sunderland on Wednesday, May 28 – one of only four UK venues they will play on the tour.
It’s not yet known whether there will be another concert announced for next summer, but the stadium usually hosts three gigs in the six-week window between the end of the football season and relaying the pitch for the new season.
Tickets – priced £25, £35, £45, and £60 – will be available from.aeglive.co.uk, www.axs.com, 08448 244824; www.seetickets.com, 0871 230 1097; www.ticketmaster.co.uk, 0844 477 5775 and the Stadium of Light ticket office.
