THE stage is set for M People star Heather Small to perform in South Shields
The singer is set to perform in the town’s Bents Park this Sunday in the final free concert of the South Tyneside Summer Festival.
The concert kicks off in the park, in Sea Road, at 1pm, and Heather will be supported by barberpop group Scarlett Street and Rozalla, who is known for her ’90s hit Everybody’s Free.
Thousands of people have already enjoyed performances from rish pop group B*Witched, former X Factor winner Shayne Ward, 70s band 10cc, UK Rock Legends and local acts The Waiter, Chelsea Wood, Lily Brooke Widdowson and Drum Youth Orchestra at the free concerts.
Heather is best known for being the lead singer of the band M People.
The band formed in 1990 and her distinctive voice helped them sell more than 10 million albums around the world.
M People were famous for songs like Moving On Up and Search For The Hero. In 2000, Heather released her debut solo album, Proud.
The single of the same name became her signature hit – and was the theme song for The Oprah Winfrey Show.
The singer made her American TV debut on the chat show in 2005.
In 2008, Heather took part in celebrity reality show Strictly Come Dancing.
