JOE McElderry superfan Laura Jayne Robson is planning to show the world just how much she loves her idol.
The 30-year-old, of Park Way, South Shields, has filmed a TV show called Superstars and Superfans, in which she represents the X Factor and Popstar to Operastar winner’s fanbase.
The show is part of a series set to be aired on digital channel TLC.
It also follows fans of stars including rapper Coolio, Queen singer Freddie Mercury, Boyzone’s Shayne Lynch and magician Paul Daniels.
Laura, a civil servant, said: “I was contacted by the producers of the show through Facebook, because I think they’d seen stories about me.
“They asked if I wanted to represent Joe’s fanbase and I said I’d love to – as long as Joe was happy for the show to be filmed.
“They filmed me over a few days, so I’m interested to see what bits they’ve used and how they’ve cut it down.”
Laura has followed Joe’s career since his winning stint on the X Factor in 2009.
Since then, she has travelled the country to watch him perform, become part of a group of fans dubbed the McElderry Massive, and has illustrated her dedication by getting eight Joe-themed tattoos.
She said: “On the show they asked me why I was such a big fan, and I told them it all started with him being a local lad who was on the X Factor.
“Then I came to love him for his huge talent and then, when I met him, I realised it wasn’t just his talent, but that he’s a genuinely lovely person as well.
“He always has time for his fans and he loves meeting them.
“The fans have all become friends as well, and that’s another great thing about him.”
On the show, Laura also discusses how she took a second job, delivering for the South Shields branch of Domino’s pizza, to help pay for her travels around the country to support Joe at his concerts.
She added: “I am looking forward to seeing the show but I’m a little bit apprehensive. It was filmed nearly two years ago, so it’ll be nice to look back on the Classic tour, and all memories of Joe are good ones.
“My friends say they’re going to laugh at me all the way through it, but they laugh at me every day anyway, so it won’t make any difference.”
Joe, 22, from Westoe, said: “I’ve always been moved by how supportive my fans have been.
“Ever since the X Factor they’ve stuck by me the whole way.
“They’re all fantastic and I’m very thankful to every one of them.”
Superstars and Superfans is on TLC Tuesday nights at 10pm. Laura’s episode will air on October 8.
